Brilliantly colorful, this truly unique dish will stand out in any collection!

From the manufacturer:
This extravagant design was originally made in China, probably for export to the Portuguese and Brazilian markets. Of all the 18th century dinner patterns, this was the most highly prized. A small phoenix bird perches on the leaves of the flowering Nicotiana (Tobacco) plant. Twenty-seven colors and 22k gold make up this pattern based on an original in the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Dimensions: 11.5" L x 9" W

In the mid-1970's there was not an American Embassy in China due to the absence of formal diplomatic ties between the two countries. A liaison office existed, and George Bush was given the mission of officially representing the United States government and improving relations with the largest country in the world. Please enjoy our selections of beautifully crafted items from China (and/or replicas) in honor of President Bush's efforts as Chief U.S. Liaison to the People's Republic of China, 1974 - 1975.
