This book was inspired by real-life stories of President George H.W. Bush. Standing up for a bullied classmate, shaving his head in solidarity with a child receiving chemotherapy, sharing so much that he once had the nickname ‘Have Half’ and writing thoughtful notes to friends when they needed it most are just a few of the many kindnesses shown by President Bush and demonstrated by Poppy, the book’s lovable, main character. Against a background of beautiful Kennebunkport, Maine scenes, Poppy exemplifies President Bush’s belief that “Any definition of a successful life must include service to others.”

The book contains a bonus page called ‘Hidden Treats and Barking Points’. Hidden Treats offers the reader a fun opportunity to search for specific items while enjoying the story. Barking Points are useful conversation starters meant to encourage a deeper dive into some of the topics addressed in the book.
