First Lady Edith Roosevelt

First Lady Edith Roosevelt

Edith Kermit Roosevelt, previously wife of Vice President Theodore, came to be our nation’s First Lady through the tragic circumstances of President McKinley’s death. Here was a woman of dignity and grace and she carried these traits through in her tireless efforts to restore and refurbish our Executive Mansion; she beautifully transformed its interiors to reflect the changing times and tastes. Walking through these rooms we were transferred from the Victorian Era and into the Twentieth Century.
